Mike Bailey, Ph.D.
Disability Rights Advocate | Transition Expert | Career and Life Coach
Imagine a world where every student has the opportunity to thrive after high school. That vision has driven my nearly two-decade journey in education. From witnessing the potential of students with disabilities in the classroom to leading special education and ESOL programs in one of the nation’s top 50 school districts, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges and triumphs young people face as they pursue their goals.
Like many families of high school students navigating college or career decisions, you may have questions about resources, accessibility, and career paths. With my background in disability rights, educational and career resources, and higher education, I can be a trusted guide on this crucial journey.
As a parent of a student with a disability and someone who has experienced the highs and lows of navigating my own education with ADHD, I understand the complexities of the education system and the anxieties that can arise. That’s why I bridge the gap by facilitating collaboration and clear communication between parents and educators. My goal is to empower you with valuable information and resources, ensuring your child’s unique strengths and needs are met as they transition into young adulthood.
My expertise lies in three key areas:
- Understanding Student Potential: Every student learns differently, and I’m here to celebrate those unique strengths, helping them discover their passions and chart a course for success.
- Navigating Educational Rights: Your child has rights under IDEA, Section 504, the ADA, and similar laws. I can help you understand and advocate for them during this critical time.
- Transition Planning Mastery: Let’s work together to map a clear path toward your child’s post-secondary goals, whether that’s college, vocational training, or independent living.
Consider me your ally in this exciting chapter. My experience as an educator with a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, coupled with being a parent who has walked your path, allows me to offer insightful strategies. Driven by a passion to challenge the status quo and fight for educational equity, I’m committed to supporting students with disabilities and their families as they navigate the educational landscape and achieve their dreams.
Let’s connect and explore the possibilities together!
